At one point in our life have we all made a wish? Maybe by throwing a penny in a fountain, or waiting for "11:11", or blowing the tops of daisies off. The point is, we all have our different methods of attempting to unlock our desires.

Although I am guilty of trying all of the above tricks, I have come to the question, "why wait." Isn't it torture waiting for "11:11" to roll around knowing it's the only time to have "good luck" when wishing? Wouldn't you feel silly throwing your money into a cement hole filled with water? And why would you ever use your precious breath to take off the only pretty part of a weed?

See, when we want something so incredibly bad it seems we will try just about anything. Even the most lost, confused, and far from religious people toss a penny into the fountain of prayer. When you think about it, isn't it amazing how God works in us? He leads us to be so thirsty, we have to drink. In this case, pray. What's the difference between praying and wishing? Well if I had to give the definition of each, this is what I would put together.

Wishing is the act of thinking hard about something you want or need in your life. When I wish, I never feel confident I'll receive what I wished for. To be more exact, I never feel heard. Prayer, though, is closing your eyes and talking to your Father. Yes, you can talk to Him. Remember He always wants to hear you. When you pray, you can praise Him for something good or needed that occurred. Also, never be afraid to tell Him what you want or need. This verse goes right along with praying.

Philippians 4:6-7
Don't worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything.  Tell God what you need and thank him for all that He has done for you.  Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
